Shimano's PD-M424 MTB SPD pedals are the perfect compromise if you're not yet 100% sold on 'clipless' pedals (ie. pedals that you clip into). The PD-M424s offer one side totally flat, to use with any pair of trainers, and the other side with a high quality SPD mountain bike clip mechanism that will take standard Shimano MTB cleats. They're every bit as ideal for commuting, touring, mountain biking, bikepacking or simply trundling around at the weekend. And there's no reason not to use them on a road bike if you prefer not to clip in. They're a lightweight, supportive pedal with a high impact resin cage for greater foot stability. The double-sided pop-up binding mechanism allows for easy and fast entry and release, and the cleat tension can be adjusted.
